Segun is an acclaimed mediator and trainer of mediators. He holds a first degree in Mechanical Engineering with extensive experience in Training and Human Capital Development. He brings to the mediation process, the creativity and ingenuity of an Engineer - calling the process, "Human Engineering". He also holds a Masters’ degree in “Peace and Conflict Studies” with a PhD in view.
Segun consults for and trains mediators for the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), German International Development (GIZ), DFID - Justice for All (J4A), Mercy Corps (MC), Int’l Republican Institute (IRI), West African Network for Peace-building (WANEP), Kofi Annan Int’l Peace-making Training Centre (KAIPTC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Justice Development and Peace Initiative (JDPI), Heartland Alliance Int’l (HAI), Danish Demining Group (DDG) and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC).
He is one of the consultants and facilitators for the current UNDP sponsored project for Civilian Joint Task Force and Vigilante Groups from the North East. He was a consultant on the Presidential Amnesty Programme for ex-militants of the Niger Delta. He is consulting for SPDC on the Ogoni Restoration Project.
Segun presently conducts ADR Certification trainings for Students of the Nigerian Law School in the six (6) Campuses across the nation and was ‘Judge’ for the National Client Interviewing and Counseling Skills Competition for University Law Students. He is the first Nigerian to receive the prestigious International Mediation Accreditation from the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), London. He is also an MTI (USA) Certified Professional in Managing Workplace Conflicts. He equally has certification in Preventive Peace-building from WANEP.
Segun wrote the proposal for the establishment of the Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse (LMDC) and served as the first in-house mediator. He also wrote the proposals for the establishment of the Kano, Uyo and Ogun Multi-Door Courthouses and served as Consultant on the projects. He served as a volunteer mediator at the Citizen’s Rights’ Commission, Lagos State Ministry of Justice.He is the Founder and President of Mediation Training Institute (MTI-Nigeria). He is the current Registrar and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Member, Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC). He is a member of the ADR Committee, of the FCT, Abuja Judiciary.
He is on the Panels of Neutrals of the Abuja, Kano and Ogun Multi-Door Courthouses, Abuja Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI), Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC); Member, Boards of Trustees of International Institute for Leadership and Governance (INILAG), Initiative for African Peace (Afri-Peace), Love and Peace Advocacy Initiative and Network of African Peace-builders (NAPS). Segun is the author of The Effective Mediator, a resource material for practicing and aspiring mediators. He is also the author of The Role of Women in Peace-building. He loves peace and people, demonstrating deep knowledge and understanding of human nature. He is adjudged one of the best mediators and trainers of mediators in Africa and has been appointed as an Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation.
